Transportation

Robeson Community College offers classes to enhance and meet the transportation needs of students. Click on the tabs below to learn more about the traffic courses that are designed and offered through our partnership with the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina. You can also learn more information about our motorcycle course that is scheduled through our partnership with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

The purpose of the course is to focus on eliminating the leading causes of preventable deaths that can happen while speeding and driving while distracted. The class also focuses on informing new, inexperienced, and young drivers about current state laws related to speeding, impaired driving, seatbelt usage, and cell phone use while driving. 

Requirements
  • Students must be between the ages of 16-25 at the time of registration
  • Valid NC Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • Students must attend 100% of the contact hours in order to complete the course
  • Students must provide a copy of the citation at the time of registration
  • A Completion Certificate is issued at the conclusion of the course
Schedule
  • The Alive@25 course is a 4 hour course
  • Classes are offered on Saturday only
  • Class times are 8:30AM-12:30PM

 

 

Cost & Registration

The Alive@25 course is $100.00

Students MUST complete registration and provide payment before the scheduled date of the course they wish to attend. Students who register and pay, but do not show up for the class, are NOT eligible for a refund.

The purpose of the course is to focus on eliminating the leading causes of preventable deaths that can happen while speeding and driving while distracted. Since 1989 the Safe Driving Program in North Carolina has provided drivers with potential reductions on a traffic violation in exchange for completing the 4-hour National Safety Council defensive driving course.

Requirements
  • Students must be 26 years of age or older at the time of registration
  • Valid NC Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • Students must attend 100% of the contact hours in order to complete the course
  • Students must provide a copy of the citation at the time of registration
  • A Completion Certificate is issued at the conclusion of the course
Schedule
  • The Defensive Driving course is a 4 hour course
  • Classes are offered on Saturday only
  • Class times are 1:30PM-5:30PM

The Defensive Driving course is $100.00

This course is designed for students with little or no motorcycle riding experience. Upon successful completion of the 20-hour safety and street skills course, students will be provided with cards to take to their local DMV office as proof of the driving portion of the exam. Written examinations are taken at the DMV office and are the responsibility of the student. Motorcycles are provided by the college. However, students are responsible for the protective gear required to participate in the course.

Requirements
  • Students must be 18 years of age at the time of registration
  • Students who are younger than 18 years of age must have a signed waiver on file by their parent/guardian
  • Must have a valid NC Driver’s License
  • Must have a Social Security Card
  • Students must complete 100% of the required contact hours (students are late for class will be dropped)

The Basic Rider Course has been updated and now includes an eCourse (online) component that is a prerequisite for the riding exercises. The eCourse will be conducted during Friday night’s class. You must pass the eCourse (a certificate of completion will be received) in order to participate in the riding portion on Saturday and Sunday. Per MSF guidelines, students who fail to satisfactorily complete the eCourse before Saturday morning will be dropped for the class and will be ineligible for a refund.

Schedule
  • The Basic Rider course is a 20 hour course
  • Class meetings are Friday (6:00PM-10:0PM), Saturday & Sunday (8:00AM-5:00PM)

The Basic Rider course is $162.00
