Students commit to RCC’s Inaugural Baseball Team set to launch in 2025; Softball program to be added
Robeson Community College’s Athletics program is gaining momentum as it just recently had three students commit to its first inaugural baseball team set to launch in 2025.
Brett Kutner of Raleigh, who attends Leesville Road High School will be calling Robeson County home next fall as he joins the team with teammates Mynkoda Smith and Nemo Chavis, both from Fairmont and who attend Fairmont High School.
“These students are excited about joining Team RCC next fall and playing baseball,” stated Executive Vice President Eric Freeman. “We hope to have more “Committed” cards to share with soon.”
Other developments in athletics include becoming an official member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the hiring of three coaches for the men’s baseball team. RCC has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the City of Lumberton for the use of field 6 for the addition of a women’s softball team.
“Everything is falling into place, and we are moving ahead with our plans for athletics,” Freeman said. “We hope to announce a mascot soon.”
