Robeson Community College welcomes recent high school graduates

Robeson Community College hosted recent high school graduates from the Class of 2022 during its College Admissions Day event. Graduates from the Public Schools of Robeson County were invited to a luncheon to learn more about RCC, financial aid, and register for classes. Graduates were welcomed by Vice President of Instruction, Dr. Patrena Benton Elliott.

“We know you could be anywhere right now, so thank you for choosing to be at Robeson Community College,” Dr. Elliott stated. “This is the start of a great journey.”

“I’m standing here welcoming you to RCC today, and in the near future I will be hugging you as you walk across the stage. Your time here will go by fast and just like that you’ll have your degree, so enjoy every moment and make the most of your time at RCC,” stated Dr. Elliott.

Students attending today’s event told what they planned on majoring in this fall.

“Cybersecurity,” stated a student.

“Medical Office Administration,” stated another.

One student said she was going to enroll in welding and was looking forward to seeing the lab spaces. Others responded saying they were enrolling in health sciences, business administration, and college transfer.

Still undecided, one student told Dr. Elliott she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, but Dr. Elliott told her that was ok.

“You don’t have to have everything figured out right now,” Dr. Elliott told the students. “That’s part of the adventure, part of why you’re here, to discover what you would like to do.”

Fall 2022 classes begin August 15 at Robeson Community College. For more information on registration and financial aid, please visit www.robeson.edu.
