RCC’s President Melissa Singler featured in BusinessNC Magazine

North Carolina’s economy continues to flourish, as the population grows and business and industry thrives, making it an ideal place to live, work, and play.

As part of a roundtable discussion centered on the economic forecast of the State, BusinessNC gathered together a panel of experts, representing some of the great business leaders from the mountains to the coast to help map out some of the economy’s most important facets.

One of those leaders chosen was RCC’s President Melissa Singler, who contributed to a side bar discussion on growth and impact as it relates to economic challenges and prospects.

“I believe our economy will continue to thrive,” Singler told. “North Carolina remains an attractive destination for business and industries, offering both a high quality of life and a strong labor force.”

Singler pointed to the strong network of the 58 community colleges across the state, saying, “Our robust community colleges play a key role in quickly upskilling workers to meet the needs of employers. These factors, along with many others, position us well for sustained growth in 2025 and beyond.”

As Robeson Community College looks to the future, Singler spoke of the challenges that state funded institutions face with budgetary constraints and operational costs, as well as opportunities for growth and impact.

“In 2025 we will be launching our athletics program, a major milestone that will transform our institution,” Singler said. “We remain committed to enhancing our support for business and industry through tailored training and innovative programs.”

RCC recently added electrical lineman to its portfolio of short-term training programs, in an effort to meet the demands of the local workforce, Singler told the magazine.

“We anticipate adding additional certificate and degree programs in the near future,” Singler added. “We are here to serve students… we will continue to provide a quality education at an afford price.”
