RCC Celebrates National Manufacturing Day with tours, job fair
Robeson Community College’s First Annual Homecoming Week ended on a high note with more than 300 high school students and close to 100 community members visiting the main campus in Lumberton for ‘Homemade in Robeson Day.’
The day is a tribute to National Manufacturing Day, which is usually observed the first Friday in October. It is the biggest opportunity to inspire the next generation to start careers in modern manufacturing.
President Joe Biden signed a declaration on October 6, 2022 proclaiming October 7, 2022 as National Manufacturing Day and encouraged all Americans to look for ways to get involved, celebrate the day, and “buy American.”
‘Homemade in Robeson’ featured several companies located in Robeson County including Tractor Supply, Metcon, Flo-Tite Valves and Controls, and more.
Tours of the Industrial Technologies programs were given in the morning hours including that of welding; electrical / electronics, industrial systems; air conditioning, heating and refrigeration; and mechatronics; which was followed by a job fair held in the afternoon.
