New Scholarships and Endowments announced at RCC
New scholarships and endowments have been established at Robeson Community College thanks to new donors who have generously given to the RCC Foundation.
The RCC Foundation has announced the addition of three scholarships, the Earl and Majorie Whitener Endowed Scholarship, Charlie’s Pharm Tech Scholarship, and the Gilbert Scholarship.
The Earl and Marjorie Whitener Endowed scholarship was established by Ralph Whitener in honor of his parents. Ralph Whitener grew up in Lumberton and after a successful military career, he now lives in North Myrtle Beach, SC. The Whitener Endowment is designated for students majoring in nursing, whom demonstrate a financial need.
The Charlie’s Pharm Tech Scholarship has been started by Kelsea Hammond of Bladenboro, NC to assist students interested in enrolling in Pharmacy Tech at RCC. Hammond teaches part-time for RCC’s Continuing Education Division.
The Gilbert Scholarship was founded by Darlena Moore of Wilmington, NC. Moore has provided (2) $1,500 scholarships to two RCC students whom had been placed in foster care. Moore’s scholarship, the Gilbert Scholarship, is named in honor of her foster parents, Dick and Mary Gilbert, whom taught her the importance of education.
