Board of Trustees Honors Dr. Gold & Names Interim
During the June 10 meeting, the RCC Board of Trustees presented a resolution honoring the work of President Kimberly Gold, who announced her resignation in March to take the position of Vice President of Programs & Chief Academic Officer for the NC Community College System.
“I feel like we accomplished a lot this year,” Dr. Gold said. “Thank you for all you’ve done to support me.”
Dr. William Findt has been named Interim President. Pending State Board approval, Dr. Findt will assume the interim presidency on August 1, and will serve in a temporary capacity until a national search for the next president is concluded and the next president is appointed. Due to Dr. Gold’s resignation date and Dr. Findt’s delayed availability, Mr. Steven Hunt, Vice President of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, will serve as Interim President for the month of July.
Dr. Findt has over 42 years of experience at community colleges. He served as President of Bladen Community College for 10 years and recently retired in February 2019. Dr. Findt received his Bachelor’s in History from Wake Forest University. He holds a Master’s of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
“I was pleased to be asked,” Findt told The Robesonian. “Robeson Community College is one of the larger community colleges in the state. I’m pleased to be — again — associated with the system.”
