Checking Out Materials
What do I need to check out books?
An RCC ID card with a library barcode is required to check out materials. Students may obtain an ID card from the Media Center in Building 13 and a library barcode can be obtained at the library’s circulation desk.
For how long can I check books out?
Materials are checked out for a period of 3 weeks. Renewals may be made by visiting the library with the materials or by calling the library (910-272-3327). A maximum of 2 renewals are allowed for each book checked out; however, items will not be renewed if other RCC patrons have placed holds on those materials.
Where do I return checked-out books?
All checked-out materials should be returned either to the library, or placed in the library book drop located between the flag poles in front of the college.
What if I return books past their due date?
If materials are not returned by the due date, a fine of .10 will be charged for each item per day (holidays and weekends are excluded) not to exceed $10.00. For example, if 3 books are overdue for 5 days, each day a .30 fine will be charged for 5 days for a total of $1.50.
What if I lose the books that I check out?
For materials that are lost, the patron will be charged with replacement costs and a $5.00 processing fee. Alternatively, patrons can purchase the lost items themselves and only owe the $5.00 processing fee.
What if RCC does not have the book or article that I need?
If we do not own, or have the material that you need on hand, we can attempt to retrieve it through our interlibrary system. Please select the appropriate form below, complete it, and submit it to us for processing. We will contact you within two business days as to the status of your request.
